(I'm putting this in off topic because it doesn't really apply to the mechanics of the game, but my own take on the items system of Nightfall.)

Ever since the beginning of me playing this game, I have always sought after skills and used whatever dropped from the mobs. I didn't care for weapons mainly because I spent most of my time on casters and the staves that dropped were utterly crappy anyhow. If you recall, in Prophecies and Factions the staves dropped with mixmatched mods and getting matched mods would go for like 100K+ or whatever insane prices people paid. So I guess that it was typical for players not to invest in staves, unless they were filthy rich.

Thus, my weapons often were collector's items people would not be jealous of even if they just started playing the day I met them.

Anyhow I sold most of my gold weapons and whatever drops I got to the merchant for skill capping money ever since the beginning (aka insanely low prices). If I salvaged mods, I sold them for 1k or I just gave them away. I didn't bother chestrunning, farming, whatnot.

I simply did not have time to mess around with selling and buying, it wasn't my forte and I didn't have the patience. The only things I saved were staff mods and sword / axe mods. (Since I only had/have casters and a warrior). This meant I could keep my storage relatively clear of things I don't need. I think I probably reserved only 20 slots (max) for mods.

During the summer, ArenaNet announced they had polled the accounts via the server and most players had <15K or something. My own storage was hovering around that number as well. Not that I was unhappy with it, I focused>
When Nightfall came out, I, like many others, was grateful that we could have staves that actually have matched mods. Then it hit me. I could no longer merchant everything. Shield Handles, focus cores, tens of dozens of mods packed my storage just because they could mod weapon crafter's inscribable weapons. My storage went closer and closer to full. Now I did what I usually do with the mods, give them out. The sheer amount that comes in, however, is way too much for me to handle. On a typical mission I get about 3-4 mods. To worsen the situation, when I get golds I have to actually think about whether to throw them out, since the inscriptions can be changed. This in turn means my storage is filled with golds that have useless mods, just because I don't know if they are worth anything.

If anything, it is a subtle signal that the player base is going to
A. need a mod trader
B. grow more equal , rather than have rich and poor.
C. have people buying/selling mods and inscription slot weapons
D. start spamming trade channel more (or party search panel) instead of doing missions and quests
E. start using heros as storage

This notion hit me when I had merchanted golds I got that had inscription slots. I was too used to merchanting anything that doesn't have collector's grade inherent mods.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is suffering from the system like I am. Yes, I'm being slightly cynical.

Inscriptions let you swap the inherent mod...

I'm suffering too. Before Nightfall, when people talked about having "mules" I wondered how on earth they could manage to accumulate that much stuff. I now have 2 mules myself and am at the point where I may well need another

I seriously think there should be a mod trader or the weaponsmiths should be altered to allow the sale/purchase of mods from them.

My storage is filled too and I have no place to put them. Thanks to the Wintersday event, I have another 5 to 6 slots filled with items from Wintersday. Also, I have mods and weapons that I have to spread out between 8 PvE characters.

Heh, I have ten slots, all filled, and six of those are mules -- one of each of the core classes. I actually played these characters, and just didn't have the heart to delete them -- now they are coming in handy, each one holding items suitable to their class.

I spread out my junk across all my characters. I have 12 or 13, and most of their inventories are about halfway full. It sure would be nice to at least buy more storage space for $10 or something.
